Marc Vasquez was infected with the electronic music virus in the late 1980s by his long-time friend Stephan Zander, a pioneer of electronic music in the Rhine-Neckar delta. Their shared passion led them to work in the local record shop “humpy-records” in Heidelberg, where Marc regularly sold records that he brought back from his trips to London. This early involvement in the world of electronic music was the starting point for a remarkable career.

In the early 90s, Marc and Stephan began to produce their own work, which was released under various synonyms on renowned labels such as Undercover Music and Zyx. Driven by their passion and a shared ideology, they brought the new techno trance sound of the 90s to numerous events in the Rhine-Neckar delta and beyond.

Marc quickly established himself as a DJ and was booked for larger events, often in collaboration with national and international artists. In 1994 he became resident DJ at “XIT”, a small nightclub where he filled the dance floor with his music every Thursday night until the early hours of the morning. This residency led to further opportunities, including a residency at the “Untere Etage” club in Heidelberg, also known as “Loft”.

Around the turn of the millennium, Marc discovered his love for radio and began working at the radio station Bermuda Funk in Mannheim. His show “Klangterrorist On Air” quickly became a permanent fixture on the programme, and Marc soon took on responsibility for national and international bookings, establishing contacts with well-known artists in the scene.

2015 marked a turning point in Marc’s career when he returned after a family-related break and founded “Vinyl And Live”, an innovative combination of vinyl DJ sets and live act performances. He also founded the successful experimental, drum & bass techstep label “U.G.K Rekords – Underground Global Kommunikation”, which has been run by his long-time friend Stephan Zander and his team since 2018.

In spring 2020, Marc founded another music label called “Augmented Reality Recordings”, which is home to artists from the deep and dub techno genres and has already showcased an impressive range of talent.

Marc Vasquez is a unique personality in the world of electronic music. A veteran of the scene, he has shaped the electronic music landscape for over three decades through his risk-taking, vision and innovative spirit. His legacy will live on through his unique contributions and tireless passion for music, and he will always be remembered as a pioneer and instigator in the electronic music scene.
